Data backup for estate agents: three simple rules
Properties, contacts, contracts and photos are an agency's capital. A broken computer or a stolen laptop must not cost everything. Three rules help:
1. Back up automatically
A backup you have to remember gets forgotten. Set it up so it runs by itself – regularly and only with what has changed.
2. Not just in one place
A backup on the same computer doesn't help if that computer fails. Keep a copy somewhere else, for example in cloud storage.
3. Encrypt – and keep the key safe
If data is stored in the cloud, it should be encrypted beforehand so the provider cannot read it. Keep the key separately, for example in a password manager – without it nothing can be restored.
With ImotDesk
The Cloud storage module uploads photos, documents and backups every 15 minutes, encrypted, to Cloudflare R2 or another S3 storage. Passwords are kept in Windows Credential Manager, not in the database. More in the guide Protecting data.
